Neko Zamurai / The Cat Samurai
HOW CUTE.
- It's a very silly premise, but I love it for it's simplicity. Madarame Kyutaro has been hired to kill a cat, because the servant's owner fears that his master has been possessed, because all he cares about is that darn cat, and he wants him to go back to before. Madarame, upon seeing the cat, decides that he cannot possibly kill such a cute kitty and therefore kidnaps it!
- He tries to kind of get rid of Tamanjou, but at the same, grows very attached to the cat. In a lot of ways, the cat heals Madarame from his loneliness, missing his family, and becoming a gentler person.
- It's very slice of life, where Madarame is perpetually broke, but tries to do oddjobs to a) survive, b) pay his rent, c) feed and take care of his kitty.
- I love the side characters too! There's the next door neighbour/donut seller, the vet who specializes in cats, and the land lord, who is allergic to cats.
- Madarame's internal thoughts were wonderful, and I loved how he conveyed his grumpy expression, but also you could see him softening towards people, even if he didn't like some of them half the time.
- The detective trying to find out who murdered the cat, and then discovered that it wasn't a murder but a kidnapping was great! He was very determined!
- I enjoyed that he sort of reconciles with his wife and kid, in part trying to temper his pride and make them proud.
9/10. It's just fluff and fun!
