Here's the thing, I don't like reset endings. I just. Unless it is one very particular case (FMA, first anime!), then I'm not going to like it. It ruins things! It always does!
- Because I just think: the whole 'oh EVERYTHING YOU WATCHED NEVER HAPPENED' is just. The biggest waste of time. This is why amnesia at the end of story really upsets me, because now the character doesn't remember anything. It's different, if say, it's there's more to come -- so, like, Fantastic Beasts, for all it's faults, is hinting that Jacob Kowalski will remember eventually, and clearly does so by the beginning of COG, for all it's many many faults.
- Even if Puss remembers what happens, and returns to the past, so nothing happens, and future!Dulcinea, decides to also travel back in time to join him, it's such a sour note in my mouth. With such terrible reasoning too -- if Puss in Boots is such a magnet for trouble, why hasn't this been a thing in the original Shrek movies?
- That aside, it took a while for me to finish because s1 was super rough. Toby, I hated because his lack of intelligence was unbearable. I do think he got funnier in later seasons, but s1 was especially rough and when he was most unfunny. The same for Dulcinea, TBH. I understand it was trying to show that she was incredibly naive and gullible, but in the first couple of seasons, I do think i was a little skeptical at how naive she was.
- I never really bought the romance between Puss and Dulcinea, TBH. I do think they had some very sweet moments, but on the whole, they were much more platonic to me than romantic. Though I loved that Puss was super narcissistic, but he still thought Dulcinea was his hero and super awesome. (It does make me wonder about Kitty Softpaw, from the movie, though. NGL, I liked that romance better, but Dulcinea/Puss did have their moments.)
- Uli kind of grew on TBH? I know he was clearly evil in the season he first appeared, and then it was fun seeing everyone rehabilitate him, which had some highs and lows, and then in the end, sacrifices himself because he realizes that sacrificing the world to the Bloodwolf really wasn't that great an option after all. I'm so-so on Alan Tudyk, TBH. But he was alright here.
- El Moco was also great! I can't remember his initial appearances that well, but I definitely enjoyed him, and the Mole King TBH.
- Jack Spratt was a character I really enjoyed, and I'm so sad he only appeared in the early seasons. I loved that Puss always saw the best in him, whereas Dulcinea, amazingly, could not stand him and clearly hated him.
- I loved the bandits, and how they always had the same design, but were occasionally differentiated by hats.
- Artephius was always super great, and I enjoyed his forgetfulness, and his weird romance with Duchess. Now these two were super cute. It was also nice that Duchess was pretty antagonistic for the first half of the series before living among them, and befriending them.
- I enjoyed Puss In Boot's double. He was just cute! In general, loved the episode where you see the many alternate versions of Puss in Boots.
- Loved that the Blind King was Evil!Puss In Boots. I didn't see it coming, but the twist was so fun!
- I do think the best characters of San Lorenzo were probably Pajuna, the cow who runs the bar, and often gave Puss free milk; and had a bounty hunting backstory and Mayor Temeroso, just because I found him super endearing and loved him a lot, because of the fact that he lived in a barrel. What can I say, it reminded me of El Chavo Del Ocho.
Overall, it was an okay watch, but again: that ending really annoys me, so I'm never going to rewatch it.
