I've been trying to marathon
Star Wars this year, which I did in fits and starts. I still need to technically rewatch
Solo and
Rogue One, but basically: I'm pretty much done with my Star Wars marathon. Yay! The sequel trilogy were disappointing in so many ways, so I'm pretty happy to pretend they never existed, and therefore, never watch those ever again.
Rebels was the hardest to get through, mostly because I didn't like it, at worst, and felt ambivalent, at best. There are fleeting elements that I like, Maul (however badly he was handled), Ezra, Mandalore (sans Sabine because for the majority of it, she ran away from the Mandalorian stuff which is the only thing I found interesting about her). Kanan I hated because he was an awful teacher and an awful person and I was looking forward to his death; Hera was occasionally interesting (but both I loathed because they didn't tell Ezra about his parents, and they had PLENTY OF EPISODES TO DO SO). I enjoyed seeing Ahsoka and Darth Vader and Rex and Thrawn though. The animation was truly abominable at times, which after watching Clone Wars, had me seething because the animation for Clone Wars was SO GOOD, and this? this is the SUCCESSOR? what a downgrade! So it took me forever to get through it, because I just found it hard to watch.
So. The Mandalorian. WHAT A GOOD SHOW!
( Read more... )Overall, I really enjoyed this show. It's like. The first Disney made Star Wars show, that I've genuinely liked non stop. (Though I do feel cautious with the new Clone Wars season, I'm cynical, but I'm still hoping it ends well. It should have had two more seaons, not a truncated final season, but oh well. Can't have everything)
