The kids were better! I liked the kid actors more than the adult actors TBQH!

- I don't know what to say, I thought the kids were awesome in this historical kdrama. It was very adorable seeing an actor, who I know mostly as an adult (I'm genuinely unsure whether he was actually a teen when he was in Orange Marmalade, but he could have been!), but here was very much a child with baby fat and everything and he was ADORABLE. TBH, I could say the same for the evil child to usurped the FL -- I recognised her all right. I'm not especially a fan of her acting, but I do think she's good, it's just I find her quite typecast, even if this is kind of pretty atypical of her roles.

- An absolutely adorable love story when they're kids. I'm less sold on it after the timeskip and they are adults, but! I do like them, it's just -- less, for me.

- I think, out of all the adult actors, seeing Kim Soon Hyun, was probably the best? I've never seen him do historical before, but I think he's good, he's also super regal, and his shifts being absolute coldness to a pretty playful wryness was pretty spot on. I have found him to be consistently good, so I think I might have to rewatch You Who Came From The Stars just to enjoy his performance there, because after thinking about it, the man is gifted with range: as a country bumpkin, as a slightly mean producer, as a aloof alien, and as a broken hearted monarch. He has range!

- I did kind of fall for the b-story, though. I know the princess was selfish and got what she wanted, even at the cost of messing with everyone and causing death to the king's beloved (but she didn't actually die!), but she did suffer for it, and did feel guilt. I know she said that she would do it again, and I believe her, TBH! But. IDK, I liked her ridiculousness as a child, and I do think the actress cast for that was a spot on resemblence to the young version. I just. I liked her in love and how over the top she was as a child, and seeing them genuinely fall in love with each other, after realizing the heartbreak, was just. IDK! They worked for me, I wanted them to work out!

- I do feel bad for her husband, though. He didn't ask for any of this. He didn't even know the depths she'd crossed to attain him. But -- he truly had fallen in love with her at that point, and she did one thing. One tiny little thing. But despite that, he did still love her. After everything. Even though she herself knew she should not be forgiven.

- I think. For some reason: it was hard to see what the princess had done when she was young as wrong. I partly don't think I understood the story properly/what happened when it was the cast as kids, but it became pretty clear when they revisited the past as adults. But I also think: despite her feelings, the grandmother took advantage of her feelings/the situation to manipulate it into the outcome that she wanted. The soon-to-be-crowned prince had chosen the wrong bride, and for that, the queen mother could work it to her granddaughter's favour, as a plus

- I do feel real bad for the king's wife though. In the end, she was manipulated by everyone, and hated by everyone, even though all she tried to be was a dutiful daughter, who wanted to be loved by both her father and her husband. And well, her husband would never love her, and her father only saw her as a pawn. I don't think she deserved her fate, but at the same time, it's hard to imagine her having a happy ending.

- The story went on for so long though. I just. 20 is a lot, sometimes!

- I hated the love triangle TBH. I'm less bothered by the kids marrying as kids, because it's pretty heavily implied/pretty obvious that they're not going to do anything until they're adults. But I just. As much as I liked the King's brother befriending the Heo Yeon Woo, I could never really believe that it was anything more than platonic TBH?

- I am still sad that he died, though. Yang Myung didn't deserve that! I loved his friendship with the king's bodyguard though. That they were great friends, despite the fact that the king's bodyguard had sworn to protect his king, rather than his best friend. So, on that death count, I was definitely emotionally involved.

- I am legit sad about the shaman dying though. I know she commit treason, and dark magic. But. But she did save Heo Yeon Woo, and looked after her during that time, when she had amnesia. So, I just. IDK. I didn't want her to die, because it was terrible circumstances, and she tried so hard to do the right thing/do right by her deceased friend.

- The king's eunuch did make me laugh so much! I very much enjoyed his friendship with the king, even when the king wanted to ditch him, and set him off doing impossible tasks to escape him. I loved the final episode with their interaction very much.

- 8/10, though sometimes I wonder if I should rank it lower. It definitely had some good moments, but also: some really draggy moments for me.
