Pretty cute! I definitely want to watch both the anime and the manga, so I thought it might be best to start with this, TBH?
- Actually kind of adored Mob? I didn't expect him to be so shy and sweet and kind hearted! Honestly, right now, it seems like they're appealing to me, which is nice. I also think his actor contributes to that sweetness, though, he had a very sort of wimpy look about him, which made him extra endearing to me. IDK! He was cute, I loved him, I liked seeing him snap too, even though he tried very hard to reach out to people and influence them with the kindness Reigan showed him.
- Apparently this Reigan isn't as good as he was in the anime? But um, I kind of loved him all the same? Yeah, he was kind of sketchy, but he tried to be a bit of a moral compass to Mob, and guide in a way that didn't feel overly manipulative? But, um, I did like watching him con other people for their 'exorcisms'.and charging a pretty low cost for it.
- I really liked Mob's brother, Ritsu, and how he resented Mob a bit, but also kind of admired him, and struggled under the pressure of the class president. I also really liked him gaining powers and becoming an Esper! He tried to look out for him, but also wanted to be more powerful than Mob, and I just. IDK, I think overall, I liked their relationship portrayal.
- I liked Ekubo, and him trying to be sneaky, but failing utterly.
- Also, I super adored the bodybuilding club that Mob joined! I know they didn't do that much, but they were sweet and kind and genuinely liked Mob, and worried about his well-being and cheered for him for trying, even though he's much less stronger physically than any of them. They were a very cute bunch!
- I kind of have a lovehate thing with the ladies? I didn't mind Tsubomi or Tome, but I didn't quite get why Tsubomi was liked by Mob, though I did kind of laugh at her always getting the idioms wrong; and I'm not sure Tome's receiving 'signals' worked that well for me, TBH? I don't know if that's just didn't sit right with me because of the medium though.
- I liked Claw and the Esper recruiting bunch, though. I'm kind of sad that the latter didn't really amount to much, but I wonder if it would be in the future; whereas I did not expect the octopus seller to be the leader of Claw in the slightest!
- I actually really liked how it measured Mob's emotions rising though -- with the screen being black and the number count showing Mob's state of mind, though it did make me laugh when it shifted to other character's own temperament changing too.
If I liked this, which I do, I'm sure I'll like the anime and manga as well, so I'm sure I'll get round to it at some point! 8.5/10.
