I should have rewatched s1. I absolutely should have rewatched s1.
- I completely forgot certain characters! So when they reappeared and everyone was like 'I know who you are!' I... did not. I completely forgot the weather lady.
- It's such a gorgeous show, though. The animation style, the songs, the character design. It's just so very cosy and I love it.
- I love that the relationship between Hilda and her mother Johanna is the heart of the show. I liked that Hilda's refusal to tell Johanna the truth is the root of their fallout, and that's got repercussions throughout. I like how Hilda is sort of slowly realizing that Johanna is a person in her own right, rather than an overbearing caretaker of her, but that's kind of... something tweens have to learn anyway!
- I love that Hilda (the show) cares a lot about Johanna and who she is as a person, not just a mother. She really does try her best!
- The librarian was super cute! I'm glad she got to do more this time around!
- David remains the best. I just really like him a lot! And I like him panicking about stuff and in general being a bit useless. He's just super cute.
- Loved Frida being a witch because she's practical and likes studying.
- Really loved both Twig and Alfur's centric episodes! They both gave me such pleasant feelings. though I did feel incredibly emotional with Twig's, and seeing the other deerfoxes, and Twig giving them up TWICE to be with Hilda, was just. Ugh, my heart.
- I don't know what to make of Andy Serkis appearing in an episode, but I did like him! I feel like the episode itself was kind of strange, (in an awfully contrived way), but his actual vocal performance was nice because I like his voice, even if I felt like Hilda acted a little too gullible this time around?
- I have no idea if Tildy had been in previous episodes, but she was rad! I liked her not-romance with Hilda's neighbour, and I kind of want them to rekindle that romance in present day, but who knows! I liked her being a witch and mentoring Kasia and now Frida.
- Kind of liked Gerda Gustav, as the orderly deputy, and Erik Ahlberg, as the ridiculously narcissist, the new head of Trolberg safety patrol. I know no one likes him in the show, but that doesn't mean I can't have an affection for his hopeless nature.
- The bellkeeper was awesome, TBH.
- WHAT IS UP WITH THOSE TROLLS AND WHY DID THE MOM TROLL SWITCH HER BABY AND TURN HILDA INTO A TROLL.
I have to hope that the movie will be out soon, because waiting two years for this show is too long!
