Short, silly, cute!
- It's about a slacker named So In Sung, who recently gets dumped by his girlfriend, Wang So-Ra. So he decides to volunteer at a drug testing pharmaceutical, and while everyone else who takes the drug gets negative side effects, he instead gets positive side effects! He effectively becomes a hero, with good reflexes, super speed, memory retention, but mainly he spends the show being kinda petty to his ex-gf with his new gf, and despite that I kind of like him.
- I will say that So In Sung's actor has a lovely voice! I just liked his narration because it was kind of soothing to listen to.
- Petty couples are such a thing for me. I LOVE THEM. My favourite pettiness level was that So-Ra got a job as a pianist, and In-Sung and Tae-Yi go to that restaurant where she plays, and he requests for her to play difficult pieces. Also, I liked that because they were neighbours, and so had to still live next to each other, she kind of gets her own revenge with the laundry and stuff.
- I liked So-Ra! I know the first two episodes don't give much of her, and she breaks up with In-Sung for no reason, but then episode 3 has her perspective on things, and how it was kind of just a culmination of things in her life and his life going downhill for a while, and I think she kind of just -- gave up, a bit. A lot.
- But I liked that In-Sung and So-Ra got back together, because they were cute, supporting each other while they tried to pursue their dreams, and they kind of quasi-dated other people to make the other person jealous. And both became happier, after they admitted that they weren't over each other, and I just! I liked them! Both had hit rock bottom, definitely needed space, and both pursued that dream.
- Speaking of, I super liked it that though In-Sung got enhanced abilities, he wasn't able to use his enhanced abilities to pass the test to become a police officer, and had to retake the exam after the drug wore off, and thus proved that he could pass on his own merits. He just had to study hard enough. Also, what made it sweeter, is that he could have passed with the drug still in his system, but then, had to choose between taking the test, or going to the hospital, because So-Ra had been hit by a car, and OFC, he chooses her!
- Shout out to In-Sung's kinda shitty best friend Jo Ji-Seob, who I adored because I love Kang Yi Young, who remains a comic genius in every role I've seen him in. It's just. The overconfidence, but it's clearly pathetic. The fact that he and In-Sung use up all the samples in shops, like perfume/collogne/food, and complain about it, and the employees also dislike them for being moochers. And. He just makes me laugh!
- Also what likeable second leads! I knew they never really had a chance to be with the mains, but I still enjoyed them. I loved them commiserating about how the person they liked was clearly a terrible person, and even if the mains' heart was never really with them, I enjoyed the relationships formed, and why it was clear it was never going to work out.
- I think it helped that because the story was short, nothing really felt dragged out. It was simple, but it was fun.
8.5/10, because it was charming, and made me laugh a lot.
