It's basically Lord of The Flies in space. Hm. A little bit like Lost In Space, but much more like Lord of the Flies.
- I basically liked none of the characters, TBH? Some were more interesting than others, but. It was hard, sometimes. Some conflicts were alright, but others felt pretty contrived.
- I did like the claustrophobic feeling that episodes later got, as well as the growing uneasiness of watching power corrupt and people go space mad -- but that's not exactly pleasant to watch either.
- I hated like? All the romances. Blue/Juli made absolutely no sense. Aoi/Kouji/Faina made the most sense, but even that went pear-shaped once Faina became more fanatical, and it felt like Aoi/Kouji was clearly winning since again and again Kouji chose Aoi over Faina even before Faina and Kouji broke up. Yuki/Aoi/Kouji was the most incredulous though because Yuki and Aoi barely even talked to each other, so to find out that the reason Yuki and Kouji argued all the time was because... Yuki secretly liked Aoi was? ridiculous since those two barely talked to each other, and also? that? that was the reason? really? Charlie/Crill could have been nice, but it felt really manipulative, even if it's heavily implied that Crill is a trans woman.
- I know Ikumi snapped, and that was interesting, but no one batted an eye when he admitted that he was once in love with his sister???? Bizarre. I did like Ikumi pre-snapping, because he was pretty upbeat and nice, and then, he just lost more and more control by the end.
- Yuki got on my nerves a lot. I thought his conflict with Kouji was pretty meaningless, and I'm glad that Kouji says after the timeskip, in the final episode, that their fights are more meaningful these days, but it's just. Hm. You could have had an interesting study in contrasts, but. It was just strange.
- I mean. I suppose I don't like Lord of the Flies either. The characters aren't likeable, but I sort of enjoy the -- descent into madness, to some degree.
- Really liked the opening song!
7/10. I wish I could have liked it more, but. I just couldn't quite get into it because I didn't get attached to the characters.
