The plot thickens! Again, I should have rewatched s1, but it was okay to follow for most part.
- I'm surprised Ben got separated for them for so long! Up until the halfway point!
- I forgot how much I loved Darius, and his love for dinosaurs, and his kindness and his smartness. I liked that he went through PTSD, and felt guilt at letting go of Ben's hand. (It's not his fault, but I can totally get why he'd blame himself.)
- I really liked that Yaz's sprained ankle (I think that's the case? It's not broken, but it's certainly injured), continued here, and she was told countless times that she needs to relax and rest, and why she would struggled with that. Basically, she wasn't magically healed, and I liked that limitation impacting the group.
- I think it's great that everybody's forgiven Sam. I don't remember if everything did so by s1 anyway, but they must have, because no one -- especially Yaz -- held it against her, everyone just moved on at that point? IDK, it's always fun to have Sam be bubbly, and have her around people.
- I really liked how out of touch Brooklyn was. Because she grew up in a very particular spotlight way, it definitely impacted her conversational skills with Yaz and Sam, who lived mostly normal lives, and I liked seeing that flaw, and how despite that, everyone bonded about the tv show they all watched. Also, I liked her going paranoid.
- Really just enjoyed Kenji being Kenji and reminding me that he was a rich and spoiled brat, but also fairly good-natured.
- I'm glad that Ben got a centric episode to show how he's changed from the meek, borderline hypochondriac, and how he really wouldn't have survived without Bumpy; but at the same time, his inadequacies is what makes him feel insecure and he pushes Bumpy away. But it's their reunion at defeating Toro that causes them to be friends again.
- Although I wonder if Bumpy should have grown that much? I think Bumpy grew up pretty fast in s1 as well, so it makes sense that her growth would accelerate here as well, but I think I just miss Bumpy looking super cuddly and cute, even though grown up Bumpy is very cool.
- I had a feeling Mitch and Tiffany were terrible people with a too friendly facade, and the same for Hap, who starts off kind of grumpy and anti-social, but actually kind of had the kid's best interests at heart and wanted to help them. Still sad Hap died, but Mitch and Tiffany's deaths were well-deserved, although I did like that Mitch did genuinely like Darius, even if their interests didn't exactly align after all.
- Honestly, I'm a little bit sad that Roxie and Dave didn't appear at all, but hey, that's what s3 is for. Hopefully?
- I would very much like to know what's in that container that Kenji unwittingly and unknowingly released, because I have a feeling it won't be good, but I still gotta know.
- I still don't know who I should ship though. All are good, platonic or romantic. Hm, I think I like Ben/Darius, more friendship-esque. I'm mildly interested in Kenji/Yaz, but Yaz/Sammy would also be pretty great, I think. Darius/Brooklyn has potential. But whatever they choose, or don't, I'm fine with it.
I cannot wait for season 3!
