It kind of reminded me of InuYasha, a bit!
- Mainly watched it for the lead actor, Lee Seung Gi, who is always charming in all of his roles. I have... mixed feelings on Bae Suzy, TBH? I found her mostly decent in Dream High, she was very good in Start-Up, despite the script letting her down badly, here, it's... a midway point. I do think she improved since DH, but I didn't always like her acting style. I also kind of wanted to watch this show before watching Vagabond, TBH, since the two main actors star with each other again, which is super cute, TBH!
- I did not expect Choi Jin-Hyuk to be here! But he's adorable, I loved his whirlwind romance with Yoon Seo-Hwa, and would have totally loved a story about these two. I knew CJH's character would return, but I did not expect it to be so dramatic and angsty! He returns as a spirit, who has to drain other people's lives in order to survive, and is slowly losing his memories, and becoming more aggressive and nihilistic, and I really just liked how he would appear in the shadows, and his red eyes would glow.
- Also, holy shit, Lee Seung Gi looked incredible when they CGI'ed his eyes to make them green, and gave him a bit of eyeliner, and claws. With his hair let down? It was a very good look on him!
- It's mostly about Lee Seung Gi wanting to be human because he falls in love with Bae Suzy, which I'm kind of ambivalent as a ship, but at times I did find cute. But it's also about him controlling his monster side to him, having lived most of his life as an unaware human; and him trying to find out what happened to his parents.
- I super loved the fairy tale feel to this story!
- I can't help but love Gon who hated Kang Chi just a bit. They got a really nice friendship going on though.
- I didn't care for the villain much. IDK, maybe I should have liked him, but I generally found him disinteresting apart from his final speech, which was kind of cool, in all honesty. He was very sneaky, but ah, IDK. It didn't win me over as much as it normally would have done.
- I'm never really sure how much I like love interests dying, and so the supernatural being having to wait a long time before meeting their reincarnation. I will say, that it was better than Goblin's, because as frustrating as I found Bae Suzy's character, even in this moment, it was kinda cute, how he got to meet a lot of his former friends from so long ago. Goblin's ending, I just found creepy, IMO.
9/10. It's pretty good.
