Book 2! Alright, I might try and give the whole read fifty books a year thing a go? Maybe?
It was mostly a recap book, which like, I appreciate things for putting it in perspective and summarising the previous books, but like I can reread them at any point? (But often choose not to.) if there’s any inconsistencies then I didn’t notice because I tend to forget most things about this book series, not entirely voluntarily.
I think the interactions were cute, having Val and Skulduggery reminisce on things and teases each other is sweet. Other characters adding things in were very fun too.
I don’t know what to think about the four archivists. On one hand, it was good that they mostly felt distinct, but on the other hand, I didn’t particularly care for the mystery of why they stopped working on the files. I mean, it got answered and revealed at the end, but it wasn’t particularly interesting or compelling.
I guess the only new information was about Skulduggery and his past? I think I need to seriously reread the series because I just have no idea who these siblings are? But, sure, he’s the son of a god who forgot he was once a god. Why not?

It was an okay read. 3/5.
Next up, the final book of the Aurora trilogy. I am positive it will be an average book.
