Stretch Armstrong s2

I continued to really like this show! Kind of wish Netflix was clearer on the fact that you're supposed to play the interactive before watching s2, if only to explain how the Flex Fighters officially start working alongside Dr C and Blindstrike, BUT, TBH, I didn't find it unreasonable that they'd start working with each other because of past betrayal from a certain former employee, anyway.
(But also! What a charming interactive! I had a little bit more fun with this one than the Carmen Sandiego version, because I would ditch Ivy and Zack in a heartbeat, and Player too, but alas! T'was not to be.)
- There was a bit more focus on Jake/Riva, and I liked how they started off in the season not liking each other, partly because Riva didn't like working with others since she'd been working solo for most of her life on the field, and partly because Jake had his own issues to work though. But they kept it super slowburn, and I liked how they gradually came together, and became closer friends.
- My heart is still hoping for some Ricardo/Riva, but c'est la vie. I'll take their friendship, if that's all it amounts to be. But I'm glad that the show never really makes it into a full-on triangle, there are shades, I feel, but it's not completely there.
- I liked that Nathan was put in a situation where he could tell Erica that he was a (now criminal) Flex Fighter, and it worked out well in the dream scenario, but when it came to real life, Erica reacted completely differently. Understandably! But I still liked that we got the chance for it to have both options.
- I'm a little bit surprised that Jake didn't tell his dad that he was a Flex Fighter, but hopefully that's what next season is for...?
- I totally knew that the Ricardo and Nathan's sister subplot wasn't going to get forgotten, and I liked how he redeemed himself to her. In general, I love how Nathan's family basically adopted Ricardo. (At least until the end of the school year.)
- I loved the Riva backstory! I was right in the sense that Dr C wasn't Riva's biological mother, but for all intents and purposes, Dr C is the closest thing that Riva has to a mother. Again, I wish there had been given a bit more background focus for Erica, but season 3 kinda promises to have Erica who now has SUPERPOWERS AS WELL!
- I continue to love Rook, who is a well intentioned extremist, but he's still pretty evil, and had fantastic PR to continue to make the public believe that the Flex Fighters are the evil ones and used him for their own selfish purposes! The audacity! Seeing him get dethroned by Kane was a delightful moment, but equally so, seeing Rook get back on top, with the public none the wiser. He's just a really cool villain, and I just like a lot of how Wil Wheaton voices him. I also just like Rook slowly getting more obsessed about defeating the Flex Fighters, even when his minions try to point out that actually, it might be better for them to focus on literally anything else.
- I want Rook so badly to know that he killed Riva's parents, and that's why she hates him so much. Will it affect him that much? I doubt it, but I still want him to know.
- I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT KANE NOT ONLY WAS PART OF THE TECH MEN (AND IT'S LEADER, NO LESS!) BUT ALSO KNEW THE ENTIRE TIME THAT ROOK WAS THE STRETCH MONSTER. THE ENTIRE TIME. Also, the fact that he's also another well intentioned extremist! Ugh, I want them so badly to meet again in s3!
- Seriously, this show has the best villains. I would have liked the s1 to reappear, but it's fine. They did appear in the interactive. But I still think they should get a cure!
- I love love love that Brick and Mortar reappear, and help save the day! They're so cute!
- I liked that Mr Savic got an episode dedicated to him and his plant that wants to exterminate humanity, and then he becomes chess BFFs with Nathan's grandad.
- I love Mr Reynolds, and I want him to be okay! I liked his loyalty to the Flex Fighters is eventually what cost him, and yet saved him, and now Rook has decided to have someone impersonate him, so I need him to get out of this alive.
- It's hilarious having Josh Keaton voice Gabe. The super pretentious drama geek! I just love him! He's having so much fun!
Overall, a lovely season that has me really excited because it set up things to get excited about in the future, and I want these heros to save the day and do their homework, and I just want more!!! It's fun and cute and I'm invested with these characters.
Apparently, the third season is supposed to come out this year and have 30 episodes -- if the rumours are to be believed, but I don't know. I would love for there to be more, regardless.
