Hm. You'd think if I like isekai/portal fantasies, I'd like it in reverse. This show, apparently not.
- It's problem, turns out. Is that it went meta. Which, can work well! But often... does not. And this was all about whether the audience accepted the changes within the show, so it meant that I had to take it for granted. IDK, I thought it was okay at first, where characters of certain genres got transported into the 'real world', and then tries to debate what it means to be a creator/god, to inflict misery on characters. It kind of devolved.
- IDK. I feel there's a difference between 'being meta', and pointing things out to the audience, and being 'aware of a genre convention'. Also, with meta, it's hard to care about characters, sometimes. By the end of this show, I had stopped caring. Originally I liked the groups and the friendship dynamics. By the end, I just. I couldn't.
- I did like the protag's guilt, which wasn't revealed until the middle of the show? I liked that it ate him up inside.
- I didn't like Meteora that much? I feel like she was used several times for humour and for me, it just fell flat. I guess it's okay that she was the one to stay behind, but I don't think it mattered that much.
- At the beginning, I liked the Military Uniform Princess/Altair. But, her last episode didn't work for me. I just wanted her to be arrogant and haughty, and not entirely devoted to her deceased creator.
- Selesia was probably one of my favourite characters, but I'm sad that she got killed off. There were a couple of cool characters: Alice, Mamiya, Yuya, and the old gunner. I thought they had cool relationship with their creators, some more positive than others.
I'd say this is was 7/10. Interesting concept, didn't quite hit the mark, but an interesting journey nonetheless.
