It was sweet.

- I'm going to have to watch the anime, because at times I just could not tell who was who. :/

- I adored the main couple, though. I loved Hikari hating Takashima, and not realizing that she actually had a crush on him. But I did like that slow transformation from hate to love, and her obliviousness at why she was upset if she was going to lose Takashima. Similarly, I loved that Takashima loved Hikari from the start, and did have the best faces when Hikari was like "we're rivals! that's it!"

- I also loved how blatant it was that these two were friends, despite their competitiveness. It pushes both of them, and they both really enjoy it, so falling for each other was pretty natural. (Although the ending when Kei reveals why he fell for Hikari in the first place was adorable.)

- I am so sad Hikari never ever got to be first over Takashima Kei. Not once!

- Despite not being able to tell who was who, I really liked the sense of camaraderie between everyone. They really liked each other and were very protective over each other.

- Somewhat confused over Aoi. Is he ten years older than everyone else, meaning he's 25, and in love with Hikari? Hm. Don't like that. (Do like their friendship though, because it was cute.)

- I really disliked Kei's grandfather, but the ending sure turned that around! Trying to push Hikari and Kei apart was really irritating, but man, when the reveal was because he didn't want Kei to get hurt when he lost his own wife, my sympathy was won. It really helps that it shows that he was trying to make amends with his daughter, and he was slowly coming around on Hikari anyway though.

- There was a little too many fiances in the picture though! They were decent people, but I was a bit 'not again, please', by the second time.

- Megumi/Yahiru was sweet, and I know they had some shiptease in the middle, but they honestly felt pretty scattershot at times, so I would forget they sort of crushed on each other. But, also: I liked that Megumi often tried to not talk, and wrote on paper to express herself.

- Iori was great. I liked that he and Hikari were pretty equal matched, ranking wise. And they were super cute friends, but it's totally not fair that Iori got to be joint first with Takashima, and not Hikari. :( (Jealous Iori was super cute though.)

- The Finn/Ryuu subplot was kind of random? They were cute, but I was a bit 'this is kind of wierd', regardless.

I'll probably have to reread this at some point, but I think it's a solid seven.
