Wanted to like this far more than I actually did.
- Mainly watched it because I wanted something short -- and it was.
- Probably the weakest thing I've seen Shin Hye Sun, though I do think she was probably the best out of the bunch? I've never disliked Lee Jong Suk's performance before (based on Pinocchio, and W: Two Worlds), but I do not think he was particularly trying here? You can have a character who feels a lot and is boiling trying to tamp it down, and I just don't think I got that, here. The best he did was when he loses his temper with his father -- which was great, but on the whole, I don't think he cared much?
- I did like LJS wearing glasses though. That looked really neat TBH.
- This was not a good love story. Apparently it's based on a true story, Korean's first pop singer and a playwright falling in love, but I don't think they really made me believe in it particularly well. I mean, I'm never really going to like affairs, and it seemed to me that nothing really happened between them until the final episode, before they jump into the sea and drown, BUT still.
- I do want to read up on Korean history. I was vaguely aware of Japan/Korean conflict, I don't know the details, TBH. Honestly, kind of surprised that Korea was called Joseon, which I had assumed was far more historical? But, again, my knowledge of Korea is nonexistent.
6/10. It was fine, I just don't think it was for me.
