It's pretty boring, but I do like the music. At least that allievates the boredom, sometimes?
- I'm never really going to like Takumi, I realize. I dislike the premise of 'boy who dislikes X sport, and then is too proud to back down a challenge, and then gets roped into playing more, and getting addicted to the sport', IMO. I just. I never really get the impression that Takumi particularly enjoys street racing, though that could just be a me thing. IDK. As a hook, it doesn't grab me.
- Takumi himself is fine, but I don't feel particularly attached to him either.
- Kind of liked how Keisuke's delinquent life came back in a hilarious way? The rival team hired thugs to beat Project D up, and upon recognizing Keisuke, were like 'we're not going to beat Keisuke up, he's an old friend!'
- The romance was weird in this? TBH, it's always been pretty superficial, but I did genuinely like Kyouko falling for Keisuke, but... that was kind of her only characterization, which was a shame. And you'd think that Itsuki would get a nice romance, rekindled from s2, apparently, but... that goes nowhere?
- Are the women drawn the same way? They look super alike to me, TBH.
- Those two guys who shouted 'EXTREME ULTRA SUPER LATE BRAKING' were the best because immediately following that Takumi drives past them, and they lose. But they did make me laugh!
- Part of me did genuinely miss the 3D cars! I do like those 3D cars consistently improving the more the series goes on.
7/10. It's okay, but I don't love it.
