A Poem A Day

Gosh, I adore this drama! It's so soft and warm and I just love it.
- Can I just say? What a lovely lead actress??? There were times where I despaired of a female lead being ditzy and girly, because sometimes they're characterized as too idiotic to be a functional human being, but this was absolutely not the case for Woo Bo Young!!! She was a hardworking and competent physiotherapist, who's quirk that she was easily moved to tears, and that she loved poetry. She was a little clumsy, and hot headed, but on the whole, she was just darling, and it's so nice to see that she just remains exactly that, if more upfront and confident in herself by the end.
- Her fantasy sequences were the best! I know they were a little awkward, but I still really liked them!
- Also what a dreamy male lead? I know I've seen him before in Are You Human Too and Stranger, where he's much colder, but here, the actor is so soft and sweet. He's aloof, yes, but it's more accurate to say that actually Ye Jae Wook just broken hearted at the start, and then gradually becomes a warmer person because he's in love with Bo Young, and we get to meet his truer self by the midway point, and it's just -- he's not cold, but socially awkward, which makes him seem kind of harsh and blunt, but he's always pretty fair? His tendency to give people unwanted advice is always actually pretty reasonable. And it's just sweet, how he notices that Bo Young is being taken advantage of, and so he tries to make things fairer for her, and he's touched by her poetry, and just. Even before he falls for Bo Young, he is kind to her, and wants to be depended on, and I just love him very much.
- You know what? I didn't mind Shin Min Ho that much? There was something sad about his immaturity and childishness, but you could see it stemmed from his neglect from his parents growing up, and he only really knew how to be a trouble maker. I just think that even though he was a bit petty, it never became annoying or obnoxious because -- his arc was always trying to deal with how to grow up, and he got there, and he just struggled to find that balance between friends and lovers with Woo Bo Young. I didn't mind him falling for Bo Young, because I felt -- the first time around, he didn't know how to deal with it, and I think part of him missed the attention, and this time, he never caught her heart, but he did learn to respect her and appreciate her in a way he couldn't before.
- Also, I just really adored the rest of the cast! What a cute group of friends! I kind of loved that fact that everyone had a catchphrase, and that got made fun of and played with and mutated a little bit.
- I am kind of sad that Dae Bang and Yoon Joo didn't get together. I really wanted them to, during the middle section! I was so hoping that they'd date each other by the end, but alas. Nothing!
- As well as Nam Joo and Mi Rae! I was kind of hoping both couples would hook up by the end -- although for Nam Joo and Mi Rae, they were once a couple, so it would have been so cute if they'd reunited.
- I think my favourite friendship was honestly Dae Bang and Joo Yong, and how they infuriated each other, but also really appreciated with each other by the end, because they learnt so much together, even if half the time, they got exasperated with each other. I loved Joo Yong being a slacker and preferring to do anything BUT study.
- It's so funny to love this show so much, but it was slice of life and gentle, that it's completely the opposite to the melodrama that was The Last Empress, but oh man, I loved it.
- My heart felt so warm watching this. Was it the most interesting thing? No, but it was comforting, I liked the down to earthness of it all. I loved how mundane it was, how these groups of people lived and worked with each other, and quietly fell in love each other, and it never really felt overwhelmed by the love triangle, the fact that both Bo Young and Jae Wook needed to work on themselves being more honest, yet not really holding against each other for their little lies, choosing to understand and reflect on what they've learned, was very sweet.
All in all, wonderful. 10/10.
