Cressida Cowell - The Wizards Of Once

- It's a super adorable book so far! I don't know if I like it more than HTTYD series, because that's adorable too, but this is a really sweet entry point! The narrator is charming and I don't know who they are but I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point!
- Really liked Xar for being an egomaniac, a liar, a person who does not think that his actions have consequences, and of course, that he is being unfairly punished for wrongs he clearly didn't commit because adults are like that! They're so unfair! He's adorable, I love him. He doesn't really learn his lesson, but he doesn't mind so much.
- Wish was great too. I genuinely wonder if we're ever going to learn her full name, since Wish is a nickname. And she has a sister named Drama? Hmm. I loved her friendship with her bodyguard Bodkin, and how she's also kind of stubborn and strange, but Bodkin is fretful and easily distracted by her questions, and they're very cute too.
- I don't think I ship Xar and Wish just yet, or Wish and Bodkin either, because I'm always just happy with the friendships cultivated in Cressida Cowell's books, TBH. I mean if Hiccup and Camicazi went romantic, I would adore that, but I'm happy they stayed platonic just as much TBH.
- Super intrigued to know what's going to happen with Xar and Wish's parents? We know Xar's dad and Wish's mother, but what about Xar's mother and Wish's father? What happened to them? I love that Encanzo the Enchanter does adore his son, and wants him alive more than anything, but he still loses his temper because his son Xar is a menace to society! Whereas Sycorax is disappointed in Wish, who is dying for her approval, and both are trying to learn how to work around things not quite said just yet.
- Some of the pictures were gorgeous! The wolves and snowcats looked amazing! And then you see the drawings of people, and they're awful, but it's such a cute style nonetheless.
- Loved seeing more magical creatures, TBH! I love how they've all befriended Xar and how some of them got a bit attached to Wish too.
- Caliburn was definitely my favourite though! What a despairing crow! I adore him and how he knows that Xar does lots of bad stuff, kind of accidentally, and worries about him, but he's also pretty good friends with Xar, even if he's supposed to report back to Encanzo what happened, but he's not afraid to omit a couple of details.
- Ah, I want so badly to know what happened the Kingwitch, who isn't dead at all!
I'm very charmed by this book, and I'm sad that I only got the second book, when there's two more books available, and I can't buy any more books til I've narrowed down my bookshelf by quite a bit!
