Babysitter

Hm, I wonder how much I like revenge stories after all.
- This one is fairly predictable, a married couple hire a babysitter to look after their kids, the babysitter seduces the husband, the wife decides to get revenge. Simple. Or is it?
- The media res technique was great! I enjoyed the build up of the journalist tracking down Chun Eun Joo, and her revealing what led up to those events.
- Camera shots were also great. I just remember watching it and marveling a little at the camera angles sometimes, just how they blocked stuff and showcased that loneliness.
- Honestly, I did not expect Lee Sang Won to have killed Jang Suk Ryoo and Pyo Young Gyoon! Like, I thought something didn't add up when Chun Eun Joo revealed that she killed those two (she admits to killing her husband as well, but nope, they got a lookalike), I didn't think a taser gun would be enough to kill someone, though I could believe that beating Jang Suk Ryoo with a golf club would do the trick. But the fact Lee Sang Won did it out of jealousy, because Jang Suk Ryoo rejected him and didn't want to sleep with him, and Pyo Young Gyoon no longer wanted to be his BFF, was just. Definitely a twist I didn't see coming.
- I will say, though. Pyo Young Gyoon? Very cute! I know he wasn't great because he slept around, but -- it seemed that he always wanted an open relationship anyway, and did care about Jang Suk Ryoo, despite the affair, because they'd mutually agreed to have an open relationship with other people. But I just -- I've always had a soft spot for his actor, I love Lee Seung Jun for whatever reason, it's always nice to see him on screen, and here, he was mostly a chipper, playful BFF, who, sure, wasn't a great boyfriend in the sense he would date multiple women at the same time, but knew that sleeping with your best friend's lover was a bad idea and a line that he never crossed.
- TBH, when Chun Eun Joo revealed that she killed three people, I wondered why she would kill Pyo Young Gyoon. Like, he wasn't aware that his best friend was sleeping with his girlfriend/wife! But, having Lee Sang Won be the murderer instead? Makes total sense.
- I kind of liked that Jang Suk Ryoo was always a bit mysterious. Why she did any of it was a mystery, but I kind of liked that she liked doing the opposite of what people expected her to do. I mean, yeah, she was an awful person, and I didn't like her in that sense, but still, I do think she had a certain mystery, and I'm not entirely sure why she started the affair in the first place. Her 'confession' to Chun Eun Joo, both times, are they the truth? We can assume that the first -- she saw him, and wanted him from the start, might have happened, but the one from where she gets murdered by Chun Eun Joo, the 'real' truth, that it was all a revenge ploy against Chun Eun Joo herself, feels like its entirely a fabrication.
- Chun Eun Joo was the best though. Her actress was impeccable at portraying her grief and anger and shock, and it was always great to see her, and I think it makes a lot of sense why the show ends with her just crying, because everything is finally over.
- I really do kind of miss the odd friendship between Chun Eun Joo, Pyo Young Gyoon and Lee Sang Won, before everything went to hell. At first, they were really sweet together, and I liked seeing them all have fun and goof off with each other.
- Wow, Lee Sang Won was awful. Not at all remorseful for his actions, for ruining a marriage, even his plea for help, it was just all so selfish, and like? Even if I found it a little confusing how he was still alive when I thought I saw him die, even though it turns out it was just plastic surgery on a different person to make it look like him, it was just. When he finally does apologize, as he bleeds out in a car about to explode, it really doesn't feel that sincere. Good riddance.
- I know that this could have all been avoided if he'd just been a faithful husband, but wow, he really wasn't sympathetic at all, just a sap.
8/10. Pretty good.
